I have one capsicum plant (came up from scraps thrown out), but grew beautifully and gave us two lovely sized capsicums. Will it refruit? or is that it's lifespan over?

Hello Di, Like chillies, if you cut it back gently it will refruit if you are in a frost free area, But you are far better to plant new seedlings every year in spring. I am still picking lots of capsicums from bushes planted last October but they are now much smaller and take a long time to turn red. I should have pruned the flowers from January on wards . I will pick all the remaining green fruit and pickle them. They grow very easily from seed treat just like you would tomatoes. Happy vegy gardening.

Hi, I am growing cauliflower and broccoli and something keeps eating my leaves, I have tried many things but they just keep eating the leaves. Any suggestion to keep away these pest.

Go out at night with a torchlight,your looking for catipillars they feed at night ,they eat a lot . I went to Bunnings and bought a catipillar powder Yates vegetable dust Derris

I found that those beautiful yellowish butterflies, lay their eggs on the leaves and when they hatch they eat big holes in the leaves and sometimes in the actual cauliflower. I spray mine with water/dishwashing liquid.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it's when you plant a couple of seeds close together and then you have to get rid of some (the weaker smaller ones) to make room for the others to grow properly, so you literally pull out the ones that you're not gonna keep for the benefit of the ones that'll be left behind

Beetroot contain several seeds in each 'seed capsule', so you need to thin them out (remove some of the seedlings) as several shoots will grow from each capsule. It's the same with silverbeet. You can eat the ones you remove!

No why not use them as a support to grow some climber like sweet peas, beans, once these have finished then dig them out.

Hey Harrison. .....was wondering if you can talk me through it. Eg which type you grow and how you water. Do you fertilise? I've got lots of cucumbers atm and would like to keep them going through winter. Will my cucumber seeds planted today grow ok as it gets colder? So many questions haha. Thanks for any advice ☺

I live in Perth (hills) and have just potted on a few dozen small plants that I grew in a large foam container from seed. I had a mixture of dried seeds and seeds still inside the soft fruit (I wanted to see which would work best). All the seeds have germinated I literally have a few hundred seedlings. I am now in the process of seeing which growing conditions are going to work best up here. I think I will plant the seeds directly into the ground next time.

Seeking horseradish seeds looked up EBay and sent away for Russian variety Has stronger flavour and pest resistance is higher. The seeds arrived via Air mail in sealed pack. Be ware the pack of seeds can cover 4m square Each plant can yield 4kg horseradish!! Happy growing!

BROCCOLINI - Zahir Ahmed - Not sure about 'seeds' as such but u can buy Purple/Yellow Broccoli/Broccolini,etc... at Bunnings Warehouse. Hope that helps?

I buy all my organic certified seeds from Eden seeds they say on their site if they can't deliver certain things to places but I have purchased all different types of heirloom seeds and all have so far sprouted. They're also cheaper than buying the seeds from Bunnings up here

My frost dates are June, maybe last one in July, if the cold weather lasts that long. If i was to plant in Aug as suggested above, and harvest in 20 weeks, this would not see us through to a frost date with the parsnips in the ground... Can anyone shed any light on correct planting times? I would have to assume this is inaccurate?

Hey Bianca, I read that because they are so difficult to grow the best way to grow parsnips is to keep them in the same patch, and let the patch self seed, so only pick half the crop, ensure they go to seed and harvest again the following years. I havesome beautiful parsnips, (in heavy soil too!) not many, so not picking, waiting for them to seed for next year.
