Tomato 10 Jan, Jenny (Australia - temperate climate)
I am growing my first tomato Beefsteak or something like that can anyone tell me why do the leaves fold in or curl inwards ?? Is this because of too much water ??
Tomato 11 Apr, Digger1 (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Sounds like unhappy roots. Roots need oxygen (tiny spaces between soil particles), so heavy soils (clays) or excessive watering can cause leaf curl. Both of these limit available oxygen.
Tomato 20 Jan, Natalie (Australia - temperate climate)
when i have an issue with tomato plant leaves I bag the leaf and take to the a garden centre, they tell me whats happening. i then go home and look on internet for a natural DIY(DO IT YOURSELF) solution. it works a treat.

Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 09 Jan, John (Australia - temperate climate)
I have had an excellent first crop of sweet corn harvested in December. Each plant gave me one good corn kernel, even though two and sometimes three cobs were growing. Can you harvest two or three good corn cobs per plant or is it a myth? If so what is the secret?
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 20 Jun, Maurice (Australia - temperate climate)
It depends on the variety, some are far more productive than others. This year I grew Immali corn, it was pink/purple and white sweet corn. I got 3 cobs per plant.
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 25 Jan, Mark (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Hi Got about 8-10 stalks of black chewey corn - been flowering for last week and have a few tassels also , however I was trying to manually pollinate them but when shake the flowers over a white pot don't seem to be any pollen just the small flower pieces fall off and lots lots small ants , also plants covered in small ants ? - some plants also have leaves dried up and crispy looking , they get watered daily had also plenty rain recently and they have been fed with organic pellets as well as compost . They also covered in mulch and have peanuts surrounding them .. Why no pollen and what to do if anything about the ants ? Thanks
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 12 Jan, AnnonRabbit (Australia - temperate climate)
Although I am by far not an expert, you can defiantly harvest 2 good ones. I have sweet corn and Wumpum with multiple good ears. I have seen 3 good ears (though not on mine) and I have even heard of numbers reaching to 4 but that may be a myth ;) As to how to obtain those numbers i am unsure!
Lettuce 09 Jan, debbie (Australia - temperate climate)
I planned lots of lettuce (cos and ornamental/frilly? Red and green) early December and rhry have all bolted or not grown much. It is hot here in Perth. I tried snipping off outer leaves early but they were very bitter. Am i wasting my time growing lettuce in summer in Perth? Thank you. Debbie
Lettuce 15 Feb, Dee (Australia - temperate climate)
Sounds like they're having water and heat problems Debbie. Pretty tough to deal with in the Perth heat I imagine. You could always collect the seed and try another crop at a cooler time.
Lettuce 12 Jan, Andy (Australia - arid climate)
Yup I think it would be hard to grow in summe, the arid Australia climate zone is probably more accurate. Meaning you could start planting in March but I think more realistically April.

Pumpkin 06 Jan, Jill (Australia - temperate climate)
I have Butternut pumpkins and pumpkins have started to grow. I won't know if they are not fertilized until they go mushy. Can I trim the vines and leave the best pumpkins to develop? Does it hurt to trim off leaves if a vine seems too leafy ? Jill
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 06 Jan, Ruth Morgan (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Gooseberry grew from seed no probs. When it grew quite big, was invaded by pests. Small bug laying so many larvae under leave. Also leaf curl, and plant dies back. We try not to spray but killed hundreds of larvae and small bugs.Could you advise what to do and the amount of water and sun> Many thanks Ruth Morgan
